STANBIC BANK ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD CHAIR
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Stanbic Bank Zambia has announced the appointment of Dr Abraham Mwenda as new Board Chairman effective September 1, 2020.
Dr Mwenda takes over from Dr Austin Mwape, who served the bank in the position since December, 2016.
The former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and National Planning brings over 30 years of experience in economics, investment, banking and finance.
“I am excited about this new chapter in not just my life, but in our lives as the Stanbic family here in Zambia. I am hopeful that this new dawn will bring with it new innovations, new insights, and greater banking solutions for our esteemed customers far and wide,” he said.
Dr Mwenda vowed that the commercial bank would continue moving forward under his leadership.
“I am optimistic about the future of our bank. I am positive that, since we believe in moving forward, it can be; and, since we believe in being number one, it can be! All we need to do is stay united,” he emphasised.
Dr Mwenda wished the outgoing board chairperson good luck in all future endeavours.
“I am personally grateful to Dr Mwape for leading the bank with unwavering passion, hard work, and dedication beyond compare. I wish him all the best, and may whatever he touches succeed; just like Stanbic did under he’s chairmanship,” he said.
Dr Mwenda looked forward to sharing productive and collaborative work relations with the board, management, and staff at Stanbic Bank Zambia.
“I am looking forward to working well with all the board members, the managers, supervisors, and various team players. I am confident that our moving-forward team will continue moving forward together in one direction – the direction of number one bank in Zambia,” he stressed.
