LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Stanbic Bank Zambia is committed to continue providing financial services through the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the globe. Leading by example, the nation’s biggest bank has implemented strict health and safety practices to ensure the well-being of its staff and customers while remaining fully operational through its digital platforms.

Measures include reducing operating hours on weekdays and Saturdays, while remaining closed on Sundays and holidays. The bank will operate from 08:15hrs to 14:30hrs on weekdays and 08:30hrs to 12:00hrs on Saturdays only as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 until further notice.

Stanbic Bank Head Personal and Business Banking Mwansa Mutati explained that the idea was to ensure clients have access to the branches but most importantly have 24/7 access to the Bank through its digital channels including mobile banking, online banking and ATMs. Mrs. Mutati also highlighted that the health and safety of the Banks clients and staff remain at the top of the Banks priority.

“We encourage our customers to keep safe and continue using our mobile and digital banking channels to keep life going smoothly while helping Government beat the virus. We would also like to advise all visitors to our branches and all other premises across the country to adhere to the guidelines from the Ministry of Health. As a country we need to do everything possible to fight the spread of COVID-19 and help save lives.”

As more people practice social distancing due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, consumers should increasingly be switching to digital channels to shop, communicate and bank, she added.

This rapid digital adoption requires that clients must safe guard their banking details and passwords as cybercriminals are likely to increase their activities as the use of digital channels increases.
